I'm doing research on my great grandmother/grandfather. They were in Nome,ALaska during the gold rush. I think I have a picture of Charles with a plane and another one of him standing on the ice in Nome, Alaska. Does anyone know if he ever flew to Nome? Thank you Lynette

Hey Lynette, Lindburgh did in fact spend time in Nome. On July 27, 1930 he and Anne took off for an expedition in his Lockheed Sirius land plane which he had converted to a sea plane. He was planning to get to Japan. Along the way they stopped at Point Barrow (where they enjoyed a thanksgiving feast of reindeer and wild goose) then on to Nome.

Member #778, please take time to read a few of the other pages on this site. The Lindberghs did in fact fly to Nome as stated by the previous poster. I would be curious to learn what exactly you checked. I wouldn't be surprized to learn it was from a modern history book or a reference from some internet search engine. TS
